Things to consider when buying sports watches for men

1. Visibility.

How important is it to be able to get info at a glance when you are moving? Runners are a great example of this,  they often buy a watch with a very large LED display so they can get precise info while on the move.

Another thing to consider is the light. If you will be using it in the dark, do you want a glowing watch or use a light. If a light, will you need a big button so you can easily use it with gloves on?

2. Extra Gizmos.

What cool extra features do you want. There is a ton of gizmos you can get included in sports watches. GPS, altimeter, thermometer, barometer, heart rate monitor etc.

Be warned a lot of these don’t work perfectly well. It’s hard to keep body heat away from the thermometer. It’s  hard to get a good altimeter reading in something so small.

And will you need them all? Probably not. Are they fun to have? You betcha. Consider getting at least one watch that has a ton of gadgets, they are a lot of fun.

3. Looks

A sports watch, more than any other watch, should look cool. Embrace it.

4. Water Resistance

A sports watch has to work well in the water, no two ways about it. The thing to remeber is that the water resistance lables are a giant exaggeration. You need more than you think you need.

Water resistant – forget it. This is not a sports watch

Water resistant to 50m. Good for swimming, not for surfing or snorkeling.

Water resistant to 100m. Good for water sports, but not scuba diving.

Water resistant to 200m. Good for scuba diving,

5. Toughness

A sports watch should be tough. If it’s any kind of sport, the watch will be taking knocks and needs to survive those knocks.

Furthermore……

Sports and men are two things you just can’t separate from each other. Men are sports lovers. Each man would definitely love playing one sport or another. They also have this notion in their heads that playing sports make them look hot. And the same applies with all other sport accessories. Boys and men love anything related to sports because they believe it enhances their look. The same goes with sports watches. Even men that don’t play sports want to own at least one sports watch. Sports watches for men have greatly evolved over the years from being simply durable during sports to becoming a fashion icon and are now considered an essential part of your casual attire.

When we talk about sports watches there are so many sub categories in it. Some are simply for fashion. They don’t have much of those robust features in them that an actual sports player would need. Then there is that category of sports watches that have very detailed functions and features and are intended for use by the professional sports players. Choosing a sports watch just for fashion purposes won’t be a difficult task for you. You can simply pick out any watch which appeals to your aesthetic sense. But on the other hand you’re more seriously looking for men’s sports watches that actually have all the functionalities in them then it’s important you be aware of them.

First of all make sure that you pick out a watch that is impact–resistant. This is very important because when playing any sport there are a lot of chances for your wrist and thus your watch to hit against something. Then you might like to consider the functions being offered. If you’re playing a sport that requires you to time yourself then a watch with chronograph in it will be very useful. Then there are always those countdown facilities along with date displays. If you’re tight on your budget then make sure you look for sports watches with only the features that you really need. Watches with many features are also costly. So why waste cash on something you don’t need.

Another very helpful consideration when picking a great sports watch is the material with which they are made. Sports watches need to be tough. Thus it’s better if you go for a watch that is made of ceramics, titanium or stainless – steel. Plus it’s also important that you make sure the material your watch is made for isn’t too prone to scratches and rust. Finally you might want to go for a sports watch that are waterproof. Even if you won’t be diving into water with your watch on, while playing sports you will definitely be sweating. And sweat causes your watch to get rusty and sweat drops can enter the dial of your watch thus causing your dial vision to get blurred. It’s always best to consider your own specific needs before you finally decide on which watch you want to invest your money on.
